Set within a dense uhouse_of_stacked_cubesan fabric, this private residence sits on a linear 4,500 sq. ft. plot, expanding vertically and spatially to a built-up area of 14,000 sq. ft
The design approach reimagines the conventional idea of living within a tight uhouse_of_stacked_cubesan site, introducing openness and movement through a series of interspersed courtyards that divide the built mass and breathe life into the otherwise elongated footprint.
The architectural expression of the house is defined by a bold and layered façade, where materials and volumes come together in a carefully curated composition. Raw concrete panels finished with textured paint, corten steel inserts, and vertical aluminum louvers define the exterior language — robust, refined, and lowmaintenance. This façade reads not as a monolith but as a rhythm of volumes — some pushed, some pulled — creating an ever-changing play of light and shadow that breaks the horizontality of the site.
The articulation introduces depth and contrast, while vertical elements like corten steel panels and full-height voids interrupt the linear spread, allowing natural light to filter in and reinforcing the vertical hierarchy. These components also function passively — enhancing privacy, controlling daylight, and improving indoor thermal comfort.
Internally, the residence is organized around a central, triple-height courtyard that forms the spatial and climatic core of the home. Upon entry, this vertical volume immediately opens up, drawing the eye upward and allowing light to pour in from above. Acting as a thermal anchor, the courtyard connects all levels — with bridges, and circulation paths designed around it — encouraging interaction while preserving privacy. The spatial progression flows seamlessly, with each courtyard positioned to punctuate the plan, allowing light and air to filter through and dissolving the rigid linearity of the site.
In essence, the residence transforms a constrained site into a series of well-crafted experiences — where movement, light, and material interplay define the everyday living environment. It’s a home that goes beyond resolving spatial challenges; it curates moments of openness, shelter, and connection — all within a refined architectural framework.
